Sikh Musical Tradition: Manbir Singh Live in Concert

  • Anvil Centre Theatre 777 Columbia Street New Westminster, BC, V3M 1B3 Canada (map)

Sikh Heritage BC is proud to present Sikh Musical Tradition, a night of exploring the rich heritage of classical music in the Sikh tradition.

The tradition of music in Sikh heritage goes back centuries. Classical Sikh music is practiced in raags, or various systems of musical notes meant to evoke different moods. It traditionally involves vocal as well as stringed and percussion instruments. When accompanied by the singing of Gurbani (Sikh scripture) it is referred to as Gurbani Sangeet or Kirtan.

This event features Manbir Singh, an accomplished musician who has learned from renowned teachers from across South Asia. He now runs a music academy with students from around the world.

Join us and be immersed in melodies and raags that are rarely performed for mainstream audiences. Don't miss this opportunity during Sikh Heritage Month and buy your tickets today!

Audience members are requested to have their heads covered for this event out of respect and in the tradition of Sikh musical performances. We will be able to provide head coverings for anyone who needs them.
